Rules
Pets
No pets are allowed in the race. We love pets, but they are a liability in big, fast crowds. We don’t want anyone injured (people or pets).
Propulsion Aids
No devices that aid in a runner’s forward propulsion are allowed in the race.
Strollers
Strollers must begin at the back of the start corral unless permitted by race management. Stroller runners should use headphones cautiously (one ear covered, one ear open) to stay aware. Maintain distance from others to ensure everyone’s safety.
Headphones
Headphones are allowed, but keep one ear free to hear us. Not responding while using both may result in a penalty or disqualification, ensuring safety for you and others. Keep the volume low.
Personal Hydration & Nutrition
Do not accept hydration or nutrition from non-volunteers. This is abandonment or littering and will result in immediate disqualification. Please bring your own supplies to carry with you or use the hydration stations.
Littering
No littering. Dispose of trash only at hydration stations. Throwing trash on the course results in disqualification and a ban from future events. Please respect the course and the communities we run through.
Blocking the Running Lane
Limit to 2 runners wide in the lane; single file is preferred. If running shoulder to shoulder, it's acceptable in most areas. Exceeding this width may force runners into the oncoming lane, which is dangerous with runners going both directions on the dike. Be considerate and leave room for passing. If you must stop, move as far over as possible. Step onto the shoulder, depending on your lane, to allow others to continue.
Course Deviation
Runners must stay on the designated course at all times. Even a deviation that results in more mileage is a deviation/disqualification. Always stay within the cone line and never run in a vehicular lane of traffic!
Wearing Your Running Bib
Wear your bib on the front over your outermost layer of clothing. Your timing tag is on the back (do not remove or bend it) and your bib must be visible for accurate reading when crossing the timing mats. We also need to see the bib numbers for identification during the event and after for photo tagging.
Conduct / Sportsmanship
Support fellow runners, volunteers, and crew. While we have a competitive spirit, remember we’re here to have fun and stay healthy. No finish time justifies treating someone poorly or ignoring a runner in need. Let's be kind to each other!
